Shower Repair – A clogged or leaky shower in your home can be frustrating.

My shower drain is clogged! Clogged drains are the most common plumbing problem. Shower drains are pretty wide drains, meaning they can move large quantities of water. Overtime, things like soap, hair, and gunk may get caught in your drain and form a clog, leaving you showering in ankle-high water.

My shower is leaking! Your shower is one of the most used appliances in your home. With frequent use, various parts of your shower may wear out over time and leak. Even small leaks in your shower can corrode your pipes.

My showerhead is clogged! Shower heads can get clogged by hard water scale. To get rid of it you could try popping off the head and soaking it overnight in a plastic bag full of vinegar.

Sink Repair – Got clogged or leaky sinks or slow, smelly drains? Certain sinks in your home have low water pressure? Sink problems are fairly common. Don’t let a clogged sink anywhere in your home interrupt your life.

I have a clogged sink! In bathrooms, they can be caused by clumps of soap, hair, and dirt that get trapped on your sink stopper or in the P-trap and build up. It blocks water from flowing out the drain. In kitchens, soap and food particles can find a footing in the pipes and start to build up there. This happens a lot if you pour grease or oil down the sink.

My sink is leaking! Leaky faucets are caused simply by parts of your faucet wearing out. You should have a dripping faucet fixed soon after you notice it. A constant drip will corrode fixtures, stain sinks and bowls, and waste a lot of water.

My sink smells bad! Odors in the sink can be caused by two things: a dried up P-trap or a bacterial build up. If your P-trap has dried up, just run the faucet for a while to fill it back up. When you run your sink, you release some of these bacteria’s into the air, causing the odor.

Let one of our expert plumbers come out and take a look.

Toilet Repair– If your toilet is leaking, running, overflowing, or leaking from the bottom call the experts at Silver Star Plumbing.

Toilet Replacement – Older toilets could be wasting money every time you flush. Older toilets use a previous industry standard of 3.5 gallons per flush. This is double the current industry standard of 1.6 gallons. For a comparison, if every person in your family flushes the toilet about five times a day, replacing your existing toilet with a new, high efficiency toilet can save you over 1,200 gallons of water per month!

How often should you replace your toilet? There is no time period, however, keep an eye out for:  your toilet needing frequent repairs, your toilet continually clogging or leaking, and the porcelain is cracked or the surface is scratched.

Water Heaters – Water heaters are one of the most important appliances in your home; if maintained it can last a long time. Silver Star Plumbing can offer a variety of water heater services, including water heater installation, repair and replacement services.

Silver Star Plumbing, Drain & Sewer can install any type of water heater in your home, including high efficiency gas water heaters, electric water heaters, and tank less water heaters. Whatever size, make or model you choose, our experts can install.

What water heater is right for you?

Gas water heaters – gas water heaters use a standard gas burner and a thermostat to heat water in a storage tank. They are the most consistent and have lower fuel costs than other water heaters. Gas water heaters tend to have a little high installation cost over electric.

Electric water heaters – electric water heaters operate base on electrical resistance. They have some of the lowest upfront costs of any water heaters; however, using too much electricity can get expensive.

Tankless water heaters – these are some of the most efficient water heaters you can buy, tank less heaters heat water on demand. Because tank less water heaters only heat water as its needed, there’s no cost for maintaining heat in a large volume of water during periods of low usage.

Water Heater Repairs

Water heaters are generally pretty reliable, especially if you take care of them. You may occasionally find that you can’t get enough hot water or any at all, you have dirty or rust-colored water, your water smells like rotten eggs, your water heater makes sounds, or there is water leaking around the base of your water heater.

Water Heater Replacements

Water heaters don’t last forever. Most water heaters have a lifespan in Nevada of about 8-10 years. At this point you may notice a drop in efficiency or more repairs.

If you experience any of these problems please call Silver Star Plumbing, Drain & Sewer.

Tankless Water Heaters – If you are using a gas or electric storage tank water heater, you may be spending more than you need to on your water heating every month. A storage tank water heater (40-75 gallons or more) requires significant amounts of energy to run. First to get the water hot, and then to keep it hot 24/7. There is a simple solution – a tankless water heater. Tankless water heaters heat water on demand, meaning you’ll always have the hot water you need with none of the waste. Tankless water heaters can save you as much as 40% on your energy bills.

Silver Star Plumbing offers tankless water heaters from all of the top manufacturers like Rinnai, Rheem, Noritz to name a few.

How Tankless Water Heaters Work – Tankless water heaters heat water on demand. Rather than store water in a large tank and heat it over and over as it gets cold, a tankless water heater only heats water that is already moving through the pipes. When you turn on the faucet, the heater ignites a small fire that heats water as it passes by. The heated water travels down the pipes to the faucet, shower, or dishwasher.

Sewage Ejector Pumps – sewage ejector pumps work against gravity to move solid waste from toilets below your main water line high enough to where it can be drained by gravity. A good sewage ejector pump can last 7-10 years. Sewer ejector pumps are essentially if you have a bathroom below your main sewer line. We will figure out what type of sewage ejector pump you will need and can install it quickly and easily.

Plumbing Preventative Maintenance – Preventative maintenance on your plumbing system should be done periodically to ensure your system will last years without any major problems.

What areas do plumbing preventative maintenance address?

Drains – From hair and grease to soap scum, children’s toys and more. Things that get into your pipes can cause anything from a slow drain to a complete stoppage. If you are worrying about your drains clogging up, call for drain cleaning.

Insulation – It’s important to insulate your pipes during the winter; your pipes can freeze and crack causing major costly damage. An example is PBV and Hose Bibs which are exposed water lines.

Other things we look at: Exposed pipes and symptoms of leaks, including small puddles or water stains, corrosion which can lead to leaks and bad pipe connections, low water pressure, drainage in sinks, showers and tubs-poor drainage usually means there is a clog or backup. Toilet and flushing mechanics, loose tiles around your water pipes, sinks and showers which could indicate a leak or a rotting wall underneath. The water heater’s burner chamber for corrosion, rust and leaks and your washing machine hoses for cracks and leaks.

Call Silver Star Plumbing and we can send a qualified technician out to go over our preventative maintenance programs.
